Attempts by the US military to develop an update for the software of the F-35 fighter jets have "stalled", despite the need for modernization, due to the conflict in Iran. This was reported on March 15 by Bloomberg, citing a Pentagon report.

The article notes that the latest software upgrade, called TR-3, "was mostly unusable due to stability issues and the constant identification of flaws," as the tests showed.

"The F-35 program continues to show no improvement in terms of meeting the schedule and deadlines for software development and testing, falling short of expectations from its flexible development platform as the process of addressing deficiencies and adding new features has stalled," the report said.

It is specified that the modernization of the TR-3 is designed to increase computing power by 37 times and memory by 20 times compared to the current capabilities of the F-35. The United States plans to purchase 2,4 thousand aircraft for the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps with updated software.

On February 16, Dutch Defense Ministry Secretary Geis Teynman criticized the pace of integration of European weapons into American F-35 fighter jets and said that planes could be "hacked" in a similar way to an iPhone smartphone. According to Teynman, the process of adapting European Meteor, Storm Shadow and SCALP missiles to F-35 systems is too slow.
