The deputy proposed to rename the Kievsky railway station in Moscow to Bryansk

Kievsky railway station in Moscow needs to return to its historical name — Bryansky. This was announced on March 15 by Mikhail Ivanov, Deputy Chairman of the World Russian People's Council (WRNS), deputy of the Bryansk Regional Duma.

According to the parliamentarian, the return of the original name will be an important step in restoring historical justice. He recalled that the station, opened in 1899, was called Bryansk until 1934, after the name of the railway it served.

Ivanov stressed that the building is an architectural monument of federal significance, created by outstanding engineers Ivan Rerberg and Vladimir Shukhov. The deputy also pointed out the practical side of the issue.

"Today, there is virtually no railway connection to Kiev, while routes towards Bryansk are actively developing," the deputy said in an interview. "Газете.Ru ".

According to him, the name "Bryansky railway station" will much more accurately reflect the current geography of transportation. Mikhail Ivanov emphasized that this initiative is not directed against other cultures, but is designed to protect their own heritage.

The initiative also involves renaming the adjacent square, which was called Bryanskaya Vokzalnaya until 1934. According to the deputy chairman of the VRNS, such changes will strengthen cultural and transport links between Moscow and the Bryansk region.

On March 3, Russian Railways put up for sale the Rizhsky Railway Station in Moscow for 4 billion rubles. Two non-residential buildings are offered for sale: a station built in 1901 with an area of 3.9 thousand square meters and a two-story building built in 1929 with an area of 3.8 thousand square meters.
