In recent months, there has been an increase in cyber threats related to smart TVs, which attackers can use to hack into the home network and steal personal data of Russians. This was announced on March 15 by Vladimir Dashchenko, a cybersecurity expert at Kaspersky Lab.

"Hacking TVs is possible because modern Smart TVs are, in fact, computers with an operating system and a constant Internet connection," he explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.

It is specified that because of this, devices can become a vulnerable entry point into the home network.

Indirect signs of hacking are the appearance of unfamiliar applications, spontaneous changes in settings, or slowing down the TV. If such symptoms are detected, Dashchenko recommended disconnecting the TV from the network, resetting to factory settings, updating the firmware and changing passwords from all accounts that were used on the device.

The specialist also stressed the importance of protecting smartphones, which can become a link between the TV and other devices in the smart home network.

The press service of the Moshelovka platform of the Popular Front reported on March 9 that fraudsters began to massively use the "callback" scheme: they send SMS with a warning about the alleged hacking of the account on Gosuslugi and a request to urgently call back to the specified number. The target audience of such fraudulent schemes are users of "Public Services", online banks and microfinance organizations (MFIs).
