There is a risk of Iranian saffron disappearing from the Russian market and its value is rising, due to the operation of the United States and Israel against Iran. Elizaveta Fedoseeva, the founder of the spice production company Sphere, told Izvestia about this on March 14.

She noted that the supply of all spices depends on logistics routes, which are undergoing major changes, which leads to import delays. Subsequently, the companies still have only a reserve, and in the future they will probably switch to other suppliers. So, according to the interlocutor, saffron has been grown in Crimea for several years.

"There is less [Iranian saffron] and, in any case, it is getting more expensive," said Fedoseeva.

The Washington Post columnist David Lynch reported on March 8 that the military conflict over Iran is already putting significant pressure on the global economy, affecting transport, supply chains and financial markets, not just the energy sector. According to logistics companies, transportation through the Persian Gulf region has been disrupted due to missile and drone attacks.
