The marine spoke about working with drones with built-in artificial intelligence
At the end of 2025, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with artificial intelligence (AI) capable of automatically capturing targets were transferred to the Russian Army, including marine units operating as part of the Center group of forces. One of the soldiers of the 55th Guards Marine Division, with the call sign Taiga— shared his experience working with these drones.
He noted that he was initially skeptical about such devices, as he was used to controlling targets himself and directing them to the right point. However, according to him, the new UAVs with artificial intelligence have done a great job, changing his understanding of the capabilities of drones.
With the help of a special toggle switch that indicates the target to the devices, the drone now independently captures and brings it to the desired location, regardless of the effects of electronic warfare (EW) or external conditions.
"Good result over long distances. More than 20 km in hard-to-reach places, where in conditions of electronic warfare (electronic warfare. — Ed.) the usual connection does not work. Where, in the conditions of electronic warfare, we cannot achieve our goal," Taiga clarified.
On March 4, a serviceman of the air defense forces with the call sign Morok said that the newest interceptor drone Yelka, equipped with AI, is able to recognize targets invisible to the human eye and is successfully used in the combat zone to protect border territories. According to him, the Yelka is capable of hitting a wide range of targets, which include FPV drones, reconnaissance drones and aircraft-type attack drones.
