The coach of the Ukrainian national gymnastics team moved to Belarus
Vyacheslav Lavrukhin, the senior coach of the Ukrainian national gymnastics team, moved to Belarus and started working there. This was announced on March 14 by Vice-President of the Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation Stella Zakharova.
She expressed dissatisfaction with Lavrukhin's action and added that the coach had not warned the federation about the move. According to Zakharova, he needs to "close the road to Ukraine for life."
"He had the right to leave, he is over 60 years old. No messages came to the federation, it was completely incognito," she said in an interview with the Ukrainian edition of Champion.
On February 12, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) disqualified Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladislav Geraskevich for using a helmet with photos of dead athletes. It was noted that after checking the equipment, the IOC representatives met with Geraskevich and a delegation from the Ukrainian National Olympic Committee (NOC). Then the organizers of the Olympics offered the athlete alternative ways of self-expression, but he refused them.
