Permission to launch a new NATO logistics center in Romania was granted by the country's parliament back in 2025, and the facility is now operational. This was announced on March 14 by the Russian Ambassador to Bucharest, Vladimir Lipaev.

"This center operates under the leadership of the Supreme Command of the Allied Forces in Europe as part of the NATO assistance mechanism for Ukraine. It was created as an addition to a similar existing center in Rzeszow, Poland," the ambassador said in an interview with TASS.

According to Lipaev, the fact that Romania is one of the key transit countries for the delivery of weapons to Ukraine has long been known. This time, Bucharest is using its own transport infrastructure to create a new military center, positioning this as an important step towards strengthening its role in the NATO structure. However, as the ambassador emphasizes, it should be borne in mind that the country's actual contribution to the organization of the transfer of military equipment and equipment to Ukraine, as well as to the functioning of the logistics center, corresponds to its weight and level of participation in the North Atlantic Alliance.

The Romanian Ministry of National Defense announced on December 20 that the Bucharest authorities are going to open a second-largest logistics center for arms supplies to Kiev in January 2026. According to the ministry, the creation of a new logistics hub is aimed not only at ensuring a backup flow, but also at "strengthening the logistical stability of the entire eastern flank" of NATO.
