The organizers of the Academy Awards and the Los Angeles Police Department have introduced unprecedented security measures with the support of the FBI and special forces due to reports of a potential threat from Iranian drones amid the ongoing escalation in the Middle East, the Post Millennial reported on March 13.

"The Los Angeles Police Department has significantly increased its presence by deploying specialized units and tactical teams to guard the perimeter around the Dolby Theater. The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are working closely with police to monitor any potential threats <...> following statements by Iranian officials about "severe retaliation" for Operation Epic Fury, the newspaper writes.

According to the Post Millennial, the organizers of the prestigious award and the security services fear not only direct attacks, but also cyber interference, as well as disruptions of the ceremony by protesters. The 98th Academy Awards ceremony will take place this Sunday, March 15, at 02:00 Moscow time.

On the same day, the new Supreme Ayatollah of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, delivered his first address to the Iranian nation. In his speech, he promised not to give up revenge for the blood of the martyrs, stressing that it was not only about the death of the previous leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
