Belarus paid Russia money for the Oreshnik missile system. This was announced on March 13 by the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko.

"Thanks to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin needs his personal help. I asked him, and he did it. And besides, they paid money for it. Thanks! But we bought these weapons," the BelTA news agency quoted him as saying.

He also noted that the Belarusian side uses the "Hazel Tree" for its protection, Ukraine and NATO should not show aggression so that Minsk does not use these weapons.

On December 19 last year, Lukashenko announced that the Oreshnik was on combat duty in the republic. Later, he heard a report on the deployment of the Oreshnik in the country and its deployment on combat duty. The Belarusian leader was informed about the recent launches of the Polonaise-M, a modernized domestic multiple launch rocket system with an increased range and improved firing accuracy.
