Lukashenko announced talks with the United States on a wide range of issues
Minsk is negotiating with Washington on a wide range of issues, from the restoration of the embassy's full—fledged work to the release of prisoners. This was announced on March 12 by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
"We are discussing our bilateral relations, starting from the restoration of the embassy's normal operation to the release of the so-called political prisoners. <...> Economic issues and sanctions are all integrated. There are ten questions," BelTA news agency quoted him as saying.
Lukashenko stressed that the negotiations were being conducted "with dignity," while topics related to relations with Russia and China were "put out of brackets" and not discussed.
On February 27, US President Donald Trump praised Lukashenko, and also declared good relations between the two countries and respect. Earlier, on December 18, Lukashenko said that Trump's actions were close to Minsk's position. The Belarusian leader expressed his conviction that the current head of the White House can go down in history as the "most peaceful" president of the United States. He added that Trump had already stopped conflicts.
