Sobyanin spoke about the construction of crossings over the railway
Since 2013, 120 railway crossings have been put into operation in Moscow. Currently, specialists are designing and building more than 15 such facilities, the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, said in the MACH messenger.
"When planning facilities, we rely on both the needs of residents and the prospects for the development of territories," Sobyanin stressed. He noted that the expansion of the rail transport network unites urban areas and "gives a powerful impetus to the development of entire districts." Residential areas, public spaces and points of attraction are appearing next to the tracks, so the issue of pedestrian safety remains a priority, the mayor added.
Of the crossings that have already been commissioned, 14 are transit crossings, 31 are part of the MCC, and 75 are part of Moscow city railway stations. In particular, an indoor pedestrian crossing connecting three districts of the capital was opened as part of the new Petrovsko-Razumovskaya MCD-1.
In addition to the construction of crossings, illegal passageways are being eliminated in the capital and direct access to the tracks in the most dangerous areas is being blocked. The city authorities are also working to create a safety culture: they conduct lectures for children and monitor dangerous areas, Sobyanin recalled. Last year, thanks to an integrated approach, the level of injuries on railway tracks in Moscow decreased by 19%.
