- Zakharova sharply responded to the former Swedish Prime Minister, who threatened Russia with nuclear weapons.
Former Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, who held this post from 2021 to 2022, has no right to threaten Russia with nuclear weapons and the consequences of their use. This was announced on Thursday, March 12, by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"Who are you, Magdalena Andersson, to threaten Russia with nuclear weapons and say that there will be nothing left of Russia because it will allegedly be "bombed to smithereens"? What have you done in this life to talk about such topics? What did you create, who did you save, who did you help?" she asked during her briefing.
Zakharova suggested that the Swedish former prime minister, instead of speculating on such topics, pay attention to the neighboring state, the Danish semi-autonomous unit Greenland, which the United States tried to conquer earlier this year.
"Greenland literally needs such defenders. Resolve the issue within your "EU" space, try to defend your own sovereignty as member states of the European community, as old European democracies, and then take up the task of rebuilding the planet," the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.
Sveriges Radio reported on February 27, citing Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson, that Stockholm plans to consider deploying nuclear weapons on its territory in the event of martial law. On the same day, Alexander Ermakov, a researcher at the IMEMO RAS Center for International Security, linked the potential deployment of nuclear weapons in Sweden with the deepening of this country's participation in NATO activities. In his opinion, the implementation of the plan is unlikely in peacetime.
