US President Donald Trump is concerned about rising energy prices. This was announced on March 12 by Chris Wright, head of the US Department of Energy.

"Of course, he is concerned about rising energy prices in the short term," Wright said in an interview with the American television channel Fox News.

The minister noted that the United States produces more oil than it consumes. According to him, there are currently 415 million barrels of oil in US reserves. He also stressed that the US president "is not concerned about the overall figure, but about the situation of every American consumer."

On the same day, the newly elected supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, said that the Strait of Hormuz should remain closed from the United States and Israel. According to him, Tehran should use the strait as a lever of pressure in the conflict in the Middle East.

On March 12, Reuters reported that the cost of one barrel of Brent crude oil exceeded $100. It is specified that the sharp increase in prices is associated with reports of new collisions of ships in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the closure of oil terminals.
