Russia is preparing a lawsuit to return the national hockey team to international competitions. This was stated on March 12 by the Minister of Sports, the head of the Olympic Committee of the Russian Federation Mikhail Degtyarev in an interview with reporters.

"We are preparing a claim to the Swiss Court of Arbitration for Sport for the return of our national team. We will provide full support to the hockey players. I am sure that the outcome will be positive," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He noted that at the moment the Russian national team is not allowed to participate in international tournaments.

On February 22, Bob Nicholson, Vice President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), expressed hope for the return of the Russian national team to international competitions, including the 2030 Winter Olympics. According to him, Russia has many excellent hockey players who should perform without political restrictions.
