The mother of Maxim Verbenin, a wheelchair user, Alyona, who died in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, said that his remains were buried only almost two years after the tragedy. She told RT about this on March 12.

For a long time, Maxim was listed as missing — his DNA could not be found. In August 2025, investigators managed to find the remains.

"I'm even afraid to say this word, but they found it. I won't go into details, it was hard. We had to redo the death certificate — according to that document, the son was declared dead because he was missing. On February 22 of this year, we buried my son at the Troekurovsky cemetery. Now there is a place where we can come to him," the woman shared.

According to her mother, she accepted the verdict of the perpetrators of the terrorist attack without emotion — she did not go to court, she was afraid of losing her temper.

"They were punished and punished. There is also a higher, human court. There are no emotions about the verdict. Emotions can only be caused by something that can change something. And it won't bring my son back," she explained.
