Bangladesh asked the United States to allow the purchase of oil from Russia
The Bangladeshi authorities have asked the United States to temporarily allow the import of Russian oil. This was announced on March 12 by the country's Minister of Finance and Planning, Amir Khosru Mahmoud Chowdhury, after a meeting with the American ambassador in Dhaka.
According to him, due to the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East, the United States temporarily eased sanctions restrictions on India, allowing it to purchase Russian oil stuck in the sea. In this regard, Dhaka asked Washington to provide similar conditions.
"We told them that if Bangladesh gets this opportunity too, it will be a major boost for our economy. They replied that the question would be sent to Washington. We'll see what happens next," the Dhaka Tribune newspaper quoted Choudhury as saying.
