Russia will send more than 13 tons of medicines to Iran in transit through Azerbaijan. This was announced on March 12 by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

"The delivery of medicines to the Republic of Azerbaijan has been organized for subsequent transfer to authorized representatives of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the message says.

It is specified that the relevant instruction was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Alexander Kurenkov, the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, instructed him to carry it out.

According to the agency, the cargo will be delivered on an IL-76 aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

On March 10, Azerbaijan sent humanitarian aid to Iran, consisting of food and medical supplies. It was clarified that the humanitarian aid was organized after a telephone conversation between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian, which took place on March 8.
