The journalist spoke about the overcrowded refugee accommodation centers in Lebanon
The number of refugees fleeing conflict in the Middle East in the Lebanese city of Saida has exceeded 15,000 people. This was reported to Izvestia on March 12 by journalist Ali Hashisho.
People were placed in 24 schools, as well as moved in with hundreds of families who rented temporary housing or found shelter with relatives. However, reception centers can no longer cope with the flow, many are forced to sleep right on the streets.
Among the refugees is Hussein Fares from the town of Maroun ar Ras. Due to his disability, he uses a wheelchair and needs normal conditions, but he has to spend the night at the table.
"I really need a bed — now I use a table and put my head on it to sleep. I am a person with a disability. I hope that they will help us meet our basic needs. We hope to return to our homes and our land," the man said.
The head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, said on March 5 that European countries fear increased migration pressure due to the escalation in the Middle East. She added that the European Union should be prepared for the influx of refugees from these countries.
