"Taking into account the position of the public prosecutor of the prosecutor's office, by partially adding up the sentences, the court sentenced Katz to nine years in prison... He is also deprived of the right to engage in activities related to the administration of electronic or information and telecommunications network sites, including the Internet, for a period of six years," the department's Telegram channel says.
Earlier, the blogger was sentenced to eight years in prison for spreading fakes about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Taking into account the position of the public prosecutor of the prosecutor's office, by partially adding up the sentences, the court sentenced Katz to nine years in prison to serve his sentence in a general regime penal colony.
On September 25, Katz was put on the wanted list in all Interpol member states. It was also clarified that Katz had previously been convicted of spreading deliberately false information about the Russian army.
On October 3, the Investigative Committee of Russia announced the completion of the investigation into the case of foreign agent Maxim Katz. He is accused of evading obligations established by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents (Part 2 of art. 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
