The Moscow Glavarchiv told about the collection of rare documents
The Moscow Glavarchive houses documents and objects from the 17th century to the present day, from ancient photographs of the capital to the personal files of students of the Imperial Moscow University and materials about life during the Great Patriotic War. By Archives Day, which is celebrated on March 10, the institution told about the rarest exhibits.
The oldest document is considered to be the book of accounting of the property of the Annunciation Cathedral of the Kremlin at the end of the 17th century, writes RT. Other rarities include synodics from the 17th and 18th centuries and books of marriage searches, which contain information about brides and grooms, including the historian Nikolai Karamzin.
Of particular value are metric books with records of the birth and marriage of Alexander Pushkin, the birth of Mikhail Lermontov and Fyodor Dostoevsky, as well as the death of Nikolai Gogol. The archive also contains a previously unknown musical manuscript by Dmitry Shostakovich. In addition, an autograph of Gogol, who was the child's godfather, was found in the birth record of Alexei Khomyakov's son.
For the preservation of documents, a special temperature and humidity regime is maintained in the archive, and restoration and disinfection are carried out in laboratories, the Moscow City News agency reports.
The archive is also implementing the project "Unique documents. The View of a new generation", in which schoolchildren and students study materials about prominent figures of science and culture, as well as documents about the Great Patriotic War, Arctic exploration, astronomy and aircraft construction, writes "Moscow 24".
