The Russians were told the applications that hide malware most often.
Malicious software to generate advertising traffic is often disguised as regular applications, such as e—book readers, games, or flashlights. On March 9, the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia warned about this.
"Most often, the malicious code was hidden in applications that look harmless: flashlights, memory cleaning programs, e-book reading services, fitness applications or simple games," the cyber police reported in the Telegram channel.
After installing such programs, the device can automatically open certain sites in hidden windows and simulate page visits. As a result of such "views", the attackers receive income from advertising traffic.
