Members of the European Commission (EC) are exploring the possibility of allocating financial resources for Ukraine to repair the Druzhba oil pipeline, EC representative Olof Gilles said on March 6.

"On your last point, I can confirm that the European Commission is exploring options to support the resumption of oil supplies, including possible financial support," he said at a briefing in Brussels. The broadcast was conducted on the EC website.

Gill added that he would not go into details of what exactly EC President Ursula von der Leyen was talking about in a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"At the moment, we have nothing more to add," he concluded.

According to him, everyone in the EC is aware of the current state of affairs with the Druzhba oil pipeline. Despite the lack of public comments on every detail, the European Commission is aware of what is happening and is trying to move the settlement process forward.

Earlier in the day, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukraine's blocking of the Druzhba oil pipeline was an act of "state banditry" because Kiev was violating international obligations on the transit of Russian oil.

Zelensky said on March 5 that the restoration of the Druzhba oil pipeline is technically possible within a month and a half, but this will happen only if Europe finds ways to unlock a loan of €90 billion for Ukraine.
