Investigators have opened a criminal case on embezzlement against Natalia Barabash, former General Director of Region LLC, and Dmitry Aganin, General Director of Tolstoy LLC. This was reported on March 6 in the press service of the Main Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

"A criminal case has been opened on the multimillion—dollar embezzlement of funds while fulfilling a state defense order," the Telegram channel says.

According to the investigation, in October 2023, a multimillion-dollar subcontract was signed with the companies for the reconstruction of the water supply system of the Komsomolsk-on-Amur facility. In 2023, the defendants provided false documents about the completed work and stole budget funds. The terms of the contract were not fulfilled. The court sent Barabash and Aganin into custody.

Earlier that day, law enforcement officers stopped the activities of an organized group engaged in illegal banking activities. It was noted that the scheme was headed by three residents of St. Petersburg, aged 48 to 55, who acted as accountants of a shadow bank. For the period from 2022 to 2025, the amount of funds spent through this organization exceeded the mark of 250 million rubles, and the profit of the criminals amounted to approximately 38.5 million rubles.
