Endocrinologist and nutritionist Anton Polyakov told us how much water you should drink per day.

In conversation with aif.ru On Friday, March 6, the specialist noted that clean water plays an important role for the body. According to him, it is recommended to drink about 1.5–2 liters of water per day in the cold season, and 2-3 liters in the heat, but the exact amount depends on physical activity, temperature and moisture loss.

He added that there are formulas that suggest calculating fluid intake at the rate of 30 ml per kilogram of weight, but they take into account not only water, but all liquids, including soups and moisture in foods. Therefore, there is no universal formula for pure water — there is only a recommended range.

The doctor also explained that people with severe renal impairment are sometimes advised to limit their water intake to 1 liter per day, but drinking less than this amount is not recommended. According to him, it is better to consume water in small portions — about 150-200 ml, in small sips, rather than trying to drink a large volume at once, writes NSN.

On February 14, endocrinologist Elena Sherashova questioned the need to drink 2.5 liters of water a day. Universal standards have not been established, as there is no scientific basis for this. According to her, on average, people drink enough if they are guided by the feeling of thirst, RT notes.

In January, nutritionist Svetlana Lisitsyna noted that drinking, massage and cold compresses will help to avoid edema. According to her, if the swelling has already appeared, it is recommended to follow a drinking regime, limit salt and alcohol, use cold compresses, take a warm shower, move more, do a light massage and lift your legs above the level of the heart. 360.ru .

Also in January, endocrinologist Yulia Atamanova stated that sufficient water intake improves metabolism. In addition, water does not contain calories, so it replaces juices and carbonated drinks, reducing daily energy consumption.

In December, nutritionist Lyudmila Denisenko in an interview with the website kp.ru She said that in the cold season it is better to drink water at room temperature instead of tea. According to her, the water balance needs to be replenished, otherwise the body will begin to suffer at the cellular level.
