More than 1.5 thousand truck drivers are unable to leave Iran due to the escalation
More than 1.5 thousand truck drivers in Iran are unable to leave the country due to the escalation in the region - Russians are also among the blocked motorists. Izvestia publishes their video message on March 6.
"We are Dagestani drivers. We have been in Iran for more than 15 days. More than 1.5 thousand cars are already here. <...> No one is launching us. They called the embassy, no one is answering the phone," said one of the drivers.
Speaking on behalf of all those who found themselves in a similar situation, he asked for assistance. The man clarified that many have already run out of fuel and money.
Another motorist shared with Izvestia footage taken at the closed doors of the Iranian customs, where dozens of trucks were lined up in a long queue. As he showed, two adjacent parking lots are filled with the same vehicles.
The day before, it became known about the temporary closure of the border with Iran by Azerbaijan. This decree, as noted, applied to all types of trucks, which from that moment were prohibited from entering the republic through all checkpoints. Iran itself, against the background of the military operation "Lion's Roar" launched against it by the United States and Israel, closed its airspace on March 1.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, reported on March 4 that about 50 thousand Russians were staying in the Middle East, and another 6 to 8 thousand were blocked in Asian countries, from where they could not get out due to the suspension of transit flights.
