Since the launch of production in November 2022, the Moskvich 3 crossover, which is based on the model of the Chinese brand JAC, has undergone a complex of improvements at the Moscow automobile plant. Representatives of the brand told Izvestia on March 6 exactly how the model has changed.

So, the company launched local welding and painting with the best materials (more mastic, more wax in hidden cavities). The locally painted body showed higher corrosion resistance compared to the car produced by the eastern partner. Galvanized metal is used on the attachments (fenders, doors, hood, trunk lid), which also improved corrosion resistance.

As part of the localization of the seats, the company switched from a combined (fabric and leatherette) to a purely fabric upholstery. It is more wear-resistant, and also provides additional comfort in summer and winter, the company noted. The car received a block of telematics services with remote control functions, so that, for example, the car could be started and warmed up in advance. When localizing the tires, the factory chose tires with a lower noise level compared to the Chinese ones.

"During the localization of ABS and ESP, additional calibration of the system was performed and special attention was paid to Traction control, since one of the M3's "sores" was that when overtaking on a snowy road, when pressing the gas, Traction simply cut off power if it felt the wheels slipping. Now it works more accurately and pleasantly, it allows for a slight slip in order not to lose acceleration, " explained the representatives of the brand.

In 2026, Moskvich plans to equip the Model 3 with domestic-made shock absorbers, and it is currently being adjusted and calibrated in terms of finding a balance between handling and comfort. We are also constantly working with the quality of components and assemblies, and the installation of harnesses, pipes and tubes is being improved so that they do not wear out during operation. Work is underway on the quality of components, including those that are still coming from the eastern partner (camera and multimedia failures have been eliminated).

Earlier that day, the Moskvich automobile plant launched sales of two new crossovers from the M-line — the five-seat M70 and the seven-seat M90. The most affordable model costs from 3.1 million rubles.
