The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed the absence of weapons on the sunken frigate IRIS Dena

There were no weapons on board the Iranian frigate that was sunk by a US submarine off the coast of Sri Lanka, the ship was returning from exercises. This was announced on March 6 by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh.

"This is a very sad incident, this ship was sailing at the invitation of Indian friends to take part in joint exercises, it performed ceremonial functions. There were no weapons on board," the deputy minister said.
