One day of closure of the Strait of Hormuz costs all countries $7 billion. This was stated on March 5 by the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu.

"It is estimated that one day of closure of the Strait of Hormuz and passage through it means a loss of $7 billion for everyone," Shoigu said.

In addition, he noted that the conflict in the Middle East was unleashed without understanding the consequences. Shoigu added that the attacks on Iran are an unprecedented disregard for international law.

Iran said on March 4 that it does not intend to allow merchant ships and warships of opposing states to pass through the Strait of Hormuz during the war.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on the same day that Iran had attacked an American tanker in the northern part of the Persian Gulf. The IRGC noted that during wartime, the rules of passage through the Strait of Hormuz are under the control of Iran.

Iran established full control over the Strait of Hormuz on March 4. More than 10 oil tankers, which ignored the warnings, were hit by various shells and burned down.
