There have been 196 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 196 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 33 people were killed and 252 injured, 29 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on March 5 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 54 accidents, 16 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 38 outside their area of operation, four pedestrians were killed, and 52 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 16 underage pedestrians, 11 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.
21 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which five people were killed, and 45 more road users, including two children, needed medical help. 12 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
So, in the early morning in the Moscow region, on 46 km of the federal highway A-107 Moskovskoye Maloe Koltso, a 63-year—old bus driver carrying 15 passengers on the Pushkino - Sofrino-1 route did not provide an advantage in traffic when passing a regulated intersection at a traffic light forbidding signal and collided with a truck. Two bus passengers were killed in the accident, and the culprit of the collision and nine other passengers were hospitalized with injuries.
23 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 24 young road users, including seven passengers, were injured. One child passenger was killed.
In the Moscow region, on 42 km of the M-4 "Don" federal highway, a 46-year-old passenger car driver, when changing into the right lane, was not convinced of the safety of the maneuver and collided with a front loader clearing snow from the curb. The accident killed the motorist's one-and-a-half-year-old son, who, in violation of the rules for transporting children, was not in a child restraint with a seat belt fastened, but in the arms of his mother, who was sitting in the back seat. The female passenger herself was hospitalized with injuries.
The State Traffic Inspectorate draws the attention of drivers to the need for strict observance of driving discipline, especially if there are child passengers in the car, who should be transported in compliance with all applicable safety requirements.
"We remind you that transportation of children under the age of 7 years should be carried out only with the use of child restraints. Between the ages of 7 and 12, transportation is possible using child restraints or seat belts, and in the front seat of a passenger car — only in child restraints. Take care of the children, do not allow even the prerequisites for a possible tragedy on your part. Always remember that the life and health of young road users depend entirely on you, adults," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, on February 21, it became known that Moscow has become a leader in road safety in 2025. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the death toll in road accidents on the capital's roads was 2.2 people per 100,000 population.
