Loneliness and social isolation pose a serious threat to the well-being and life expectancy of older people. This was announced on March 5 by experts from the Tokyo Metropolitan Center for Healthy Longevity Research.
"Isolation and loneliness are serious factors that threaten healthy longevity," the center's experts said.
According to them, although physical activity and proper nutrition play an important role in prolonging a healthy life, social connections are of particular importance. Japanese researchers point to the historical experience of their country.

People are increasingly shopping online without personal contact, and the number of those who perceive communication as burdensome is steadily growing. In this context, the maintenance of so-called "weak ties" becomes particularly important.

Emphasizing that we are talking about irregular, but still existing contacts that do not require frequent meetings, but help to avoid complete isolation.
Psychologist, founder of Profi Psy Team Liya Shagabutdinova gave advice on working with loneliness during the holidays on March 3. According to her, it is important to distinguish between a state of solitude and a feeling of one's own uselessness.
