The United States will be forced to join the battle to block shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. On March 4, former CIA military analyst Larry Johnson told Izvestia about this.

At the same time, the expert expressed doubt that the United States has the capacity for such actions.

"If they put ships there, Iran also has submarines. And now that the United States has attacked the ship in this way, I expect Iran to start responding with strikes against the ships of the US Navy," he said.

For this reason, US forces are forced to stay further from the coast in order to avoid clashes with Iran.

Iran established full control over the Strait of Hormuz earlier in the day. More than 10 oil tankers, which ignored the warnings, were hit by various shells and burned down.

Military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia on the same day that the US Navy would not be able to unblock the Strait of Hormuz without a ground operation. The troops will have to land on the coast, look for anti-ship missile positions and destroy them.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
