During a meeting with the government, Putin pointed out that popular educational projects had been successfully implemented in the Vladimir, Irkutsk, Orenburg and Sverdlovsk regions, and new, well-equipped school and kindergarten buildings had been built. "Starting in 2019, about 940 billion rubles have been allocated from the federal budget alone to modernize the educational infrastructure of schools and kindergartens within the framework of a number of state programs and projects. These funds were used, among other things, to build more than 1,700 new school buildings. As a result, over 1 million educational places have been created. In addition, 6.5 thousand school buildings have been completely renovated over the past four years, which is about 3 million more comfortable, modern educational places," Putin said.

He also added that about 1.7 thousand kindergarten buildings have been put into operation, which are designed for a total of 248 thousand children.

"Since last year, a major renovation program has been launched for preschool buildings. 267 such facilities with a total capacity of almost 47,000 seats have already been upgraded. Of course, we will continue to carry out this work, to increase the availability of preschool education, so that families, parents, and young mothers have more opportunities for giving birth, raising children, and building a child's professional career," the president noted.

About the work of kindergartens

The Head of State also drew the attention of the heads of regions and municipalities to the fact that the opening hours of kindergartens, as well as extended day groups in schools, should be tailored to the employment regime of working parents. He added that the relevant task has already been set, and the results of its implementation will be announced in June 2026.

About improvements in education

Putin indicated that work will continue on improving the material and technical base of institutions at all levels of the education system. Schools and kindergartens will be built and renovated, and high-quality educational spaces equipped with modern equipment will be created.

"It is also important to strengthen the teams of educational organizations, improve the qualifications and professional skills of teachers, educators, and mentors, including in the field of information technology," the head of state added.
