The Moscow government has made decisions that will optimize the capital's budget expenditures. At the same time, the city guarantees the fulfillment of social obligations to residents in full, the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, said on the portal. mos.ru .

At a meeting of the Presidium of the Moscow government, the results of the budget execution for January–February of this year were reviewed. In two months, revenue growth amounted to 2%, which turned out to be lower than the 6.5% planned when forming the budget for this year. In these circumstances, the Moscow government has identified as a priority the continuation of work on the implementation of the strategic program for the development of the city and the unconditional fulfillment of social obligations. Financing of support for joint activities with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also remains a priority, the portal notes.

According to the Government, it is necessary to solve these tasks within the framework of a balanced budget. To do this, by June 1, 2026, the number of civil servants of Moscow's executive authorities, as well as employees of subordinate institutions performing managerial functions, will be reduced by 15%. Employees of institutions that provide social services to citizens will not be affected by the cuts.

In addition, the authorities are optimizing the planned expenses for financing the investment program by 10% for the current year. In particular, individual projects to improve the urban environment and cultural events will be reduced or postponed to a later date. The key programs — renovation, metro construction and others — are being implemented on schedule, it is emphasized on mos.ru .
