Sri Lankan authorities have denied the sinking of Iran's ship by a submarine.
Sri Lanka has denied information that an Iranian ship that sank off the coast of the country earlier on March 4 was attacked by a submarine. This was reported on March 4 by The Hindustan Times (HT), an Indian newspaper.
"The exact cause of the incident is still unknown. <...> No aircraft or ships were observed in the area where the distress signal was given," the article says.
At the same time, the newspaper, citing the Sri Lankan authorities, writes that both the navy and the Sri Lankan air Force said they would not publish a video of the rescue operation, since the military of another state participated in it.
The attack on an Iranian ship by a certain submarine was reported earlier that day by the Reuters news agency. According to the agency, 101 of the 180 crew members were missing. The article does not specify which submarine hit the frigate.
In turn, on March 4, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran conducted the 17th stage of the operation, in which it fired more than 40 missiles at US and Israeli targets. Sabereen News agency reported on the IRGC attack on the American fleet off the coast of Saudi Arabia. At night, Tasnim news agency clarified that Iran had previously managed to damage an American destroyer.
