Zakharova called the EC's reaction to Khamenei's murder exorbitant cynicism
During a weekly briefing on Wednesday, March 4, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the reaction of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei "beyond cynicism."
Zakharova commented on von der Leyen's words that "the people of Iran have a new hope for the future" after the death of the spiritual leader.
"It's just as monstrous as what the Nazis did during World War II. These are all of the same order of things. This is Dr. Mendel, this is Goebbels, these are gas chambers <...> — these are all of the same order," the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.
Zakharova also devoted a large block of discussion to the issue of the Western community ignoring the multiple deaths of children during strikes on Iran. The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the world community to pay attention to the tragedy at the girls' school in Minaba and stop the deaths of civilians.
The attack on the elementary school for girls took place on February 28. Iran blamed the United States for the attacks on its territory, which, in turn, according to the Politico newspaper, used Tomahawk missiles. The number of students and teachers killed was 170.
On March 2, Von der Leyen announced the convening of a special security meeting on the situation in Iran on that day. She added that it is extremely important to ensure regional security and stability.
