The US administration is exploring the possibility of using the "Venezuelan scenario" to quickly resolve the crisis in Iran. This was reported on March 4 by the Financial Times newspaper with reference to columnist Martin Wolf.

Washington's strategy involves concluding a quick political and economic deal and then withdrawing from the process. According to the analysis of the publication, the White House is trying to avoid a large-scale energy shock, given that 48% of the world's proven oil reserves are concentrated in the Persian Gulf region.

"This is the 'Venezuelan option': enter the country, make a deal, exit," the publication emphasizes.

Experts say the main risk of a protracted conflict is a sharp increase in inflation and energy prices, as about 20% of global hydrocarbon supplies pass through the Strait of Hormuz. In this regard, analysts do not rule out a scenario in which Washington will reach an agreement with forces close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in exchange for non-confrontation and uninterrupted oil exports.

However, the implementation of this plan is complicated by the specifics of the state structure of the Islamic republic, the newspaper added.

On the same day, the Venezuelan state-owned company signed contracts for the supply of oil to the United States. PDVSA's management stated its commitment to the stability of the global energy market, but noted that for the full development of the industry, restrictions must be lifted.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation in Iran. US President Donald Trump called it the goal of protecting the American people. Israel and the United States have carried out numerous attacks on military and civilian targets in Iran, including a school in the city of Minab. The largest Iranian cities, including Tehran, were hit. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has died.

In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4 and attacked American military bases in the Middle East, as well as Israeli cities.
