Sobyanin spoke about the renewal of the capital's fleet of electric buses
In 2026, the city's public transport fleet will be replenished with more than 400 new electric buses. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in his official channel in the MAX messenger.
The total number of electric buses in the capital will exceed 3,300 units, and their share in the fleet of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans will reach 45%. Thus, Moscow will maintain its leading position among the cities of Europe and the United States in terms of the number of electric buses in operation and will continue the systematic transition to environmentally friendly urban transport.
Moscow is also actively developing an electric charging infrastructure. More than 460 ultrafast charging stations with a capacity of 300 kW have already been installed in the parks and terminal stations. By the end of this year, it is planned to place about 300 more chargers.
The systematic development of urban land transport continues in the capital. Last year, more than 160 bus and electric bus routes were optimized and adapted to the needs of residents. Six new trunk routes have also started operating in various areas of the city. As a result, travel time to the nearest metro stations, the MCC and the MCD, was reduced for more than 1.2 million Muscovites. Also, as part of the project to integrate suburban routes into the Moscow transport system, traffic has begun on the first 25 routes connecting the capital with the nearest areas of the Moscow region.
In 2026, the Moscow government plans to launch five more main routes, bringing their total number to over 75. In addition, it is planned to open more than 50 routes that will connect Moscow and the Moscow region. It is also planned to put into operation about 20 more km of dedicated lanes for urban transport, which will increase their total length to more than 530 km.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
