- Lavrov declared Russia's readiness for negotiations with the United States and Israel on the Middle East
Russia is open to dialogue with the United States and Israel on the situation in the Middle East. This was stated on March 3 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam Erivan Yusof.
"Under all circumstances, we are open to dialogue with both them and Israel, and we have never interrupted this dialogue," Lavrov said.
Lavrov also noted that all the concerns expressed by Israeli partners and the United States can and should be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic methods.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin was making every effort to defuse tensions in the Middle East. Peskov added that Putin would convey to his Iranian colleagues his deep concern about the attacks on their infrastructure, taking advantage of the opportunities for dialogue that is maintained with the Iranian leadership.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation in Iran. Trump called her goal "protecting the American people." As part of the Israeli-American Operation Lion's Roar, military installations in western Iran, the residence of the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as an elementary school in the city of Minab were hit. In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4 and attacked American military bases in the Middle East, as well as Israeli cities. Later, on March 1, it became known that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had died as a result of the Israeli attacks. An interim governing council has been established in the country.
