Over the past day, 178 road accidents have occurred in Russia.
Over the past day, 178 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 15 people were killed and 238 injured. 13 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on March 3 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
So, in the Altai Territory, a 40-year-old passenger car driver decided to skip an adjustable railway crossing at a forbidding traffic light, but collided with a mainline diesel locomotive. A passenger of the car responsible for the collision was killed in the accident, and the driver himself was hospitalized with injuries. The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds motorists of the importance of observing the rules of passage of railway crossings: this maneuver is considered dangerous and requires the driver to concentrate and pay maximum attention.
"Despite this, some drivers try to pass in front of a nearby train or locomotive. Trying to gain a few seconds of travel, they often endanger not only their own lives, but also the lives and health of their own passengers, railway staff, passengers of commuter trains and long—distance trains," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
In addition, over the past day, ten bus accidents were recorded on the roads of Russia, in which one person was killed, and 28 more road users, including four children, required medical attention. Nine bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
For example, in Barnaul, a driver of a city shuttle bus with 13 passengers in the cabin collided with a truck moving in front of him in the same direction. As a result of the incident, all passengers on the bus were injured and, after receiving medical attention, were sent for outpatient treatment.
Over the past day, as a result of 56 accidents involving pedestrians, two people were killed, and another 56 were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 14 child pedestrians, eight of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 29 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 27 outside their area of operation. 27 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 29 young road users, including 14 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urges motorists and bus drivers to strictly follow the requirements of traffic regulations and be more careful when driving. The department reminds of the need to observe the set speed and distance between vehicles in order to be able to react in time to a sudden change in the traffic situation.
"Remember that the life and health of the people you are transporting depend entirely on the skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior of the person behind the wheel. We also draw the attention of drivers to the strict observance of the rules for the safe transportation of children. Take care of your young passengers, preventing violations of simple safety rules on your part," said Sergey Hrantskevich.
Earlier, on February 28, it became known that a passenger car driver was killed in Bratsk as a result of a collision between a bus and a passenger car.
