With the onset of spring, measures for trapping stray dogs have been strengthened in Yakutsk. The authorities conduct more raids and more often issue protocols for self-driving.
According to YakutiaMedia news agency, citing data from the city administration, 38 orphan animals have been captured in the city over the past week, and 263 since the beginning of 2026. In one week, they wrote out one protocol for self-driving.
The raids in different areas of the city are carried out by inspectors of the city veterinary department.
The department said that in Yakutia in 2025, a total of more than 4.5 stray dogs were captured. More than 3 thousand animals were vaccinated. About 2 thousand dogs were returned to their former habitat.
109 resolutions were issued against animal owners who allowed harm to the health of citizens. The total amount of fines exceeded 1 million rubles. 629 administrative cases have been initiated against citizens who violated the rules of keeping pets. 614 resolutions were issued, the total amount is 974 thousand rubles.
Earlier it was reported that the Krasnodar Territory recorded the largest number of victims of dog bites in 2024 — people sought medical help more than 14 thousand times, the local Rospotrebnadzor reported. The Sverdlovsk and Volgograd regions were in second or third place, with 8,000 attacks recorded there. At the same time, almost 4.5 billion rubles were allocated for programs for trapping and sterilizing stray animals throughout Russia last year.
