- The Russian Consulate General in Dubai has advised Russians not to leave the UAE by land.
Russians are advised not to travel from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) across the land border. This was announced on March 1 by the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Dubai.
The diplomats noted that after the introduction of the "closed skies" regime in the UAE and neighboring countries, it is impossible to operate both irregular and "outbound" flights.
"The land border crossings on the borders of the UAE with Oman and Saudi Arabia may be unstable in the current crisis. Please consider this option of leaving the territory of the Emirates only as a last resort. Follow the instructions of the official representative offices of the Russian Foreign Ministry in these countries," the Consulate General said in a Telegram message.
The airports of Dubai, the largest city in the UAE, suspended operations indefinitely on February 28 due to the escalation of the conflict between Israel, the United States and Iran. At that time, Aeroflot also canceled all its flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The airline extended this measure until March 1.
Like Aeroflot, S7, Ural Airlines and Pobeda Airlines cancelled their flights to Dubai on March 1. Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), told Izvestia that Russian tourists stranded in the UAE due to the closure of airspace are fully accommodated in hotels.
On February 28, the United States announced the start of a large-scale military operation with Israel against Iran. The Israeli and American military attacked the republic, including a school in the city of Minab. In response, Tehran has fired missiles and drones at American military bases located in the Middle East. Explosions also occurred in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
