Skier Alexander Bolshunov won the sprint at the Russian Championships in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov won the gold medal of the Russian Speed Skating Championships on March 1. The competitions are held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

The winner's score was 3 minutes, 18.18 seconds. The silver award was taken by Egor Mitroshin, who was 0.10 seconds behind. Ivan Gorbunov rounded out the top three (+0.25).

The Russian Ski Racing Championship started on February 24 and will last until March 8. The program includes sprints, split—start races, skiathlon and relay races.

Bolshunov is a three-time Olympic champion, world champion in skiathlon, two-time World Cup winner and two-time winner of the multi-day Tour de Ski race.

The day before, the first Tatarstan national team won gold in the mixed relay at the Russian Ski Racing Championships in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The winners included Lidia Gorbunova, Alexander Bolshunov, Veronika Stepanova and Sergey Ardashev. The quartet finished with a score of 58 minutes and 58 seconds.
