The French Navy was involved in the Belgian operation to detain the tanker. This was announced on March 1 by President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron.

"Last night, French Navy helicopters assisted Belgian forces in boarding an oil tanker under international sanctions in the North Sea," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
