The III International Martial Arts tournament started in Moscow on February 28. More than 1.5 thousand athletes from 43 countries, including Japan, the birthplace of karate, will take part in the competition.

On the first day, boys and girls aged 12-13 meet on the tatami.

"First of all, it's a struggle with yourself, with your anxiety. The one who can handle the flow of emotions better will be able to show himself well and worthily on the tatami," said Ekaterina Verigina, a participant in the tournament.

Tournament participant Airo Yoshito noted that "the most important thing is to perform all actions correctly, but to remain calm."

The karate tournament "Cup of Nations" is a key event, as a result of which participants receive the highest sports titles. Last year, 20 athletes fulfilled the standard of the Master of sports of Russia, eight more — masters of sports of international class.

On December 15 last year, the Russians became the winners of the Combat Sambo League at a tournament in Moscow. For five years, the League has been gathering the best wrestlers of the country and the world on the carpet. The Russian fighters were opposed by the world team in blue from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and even Cameroon.
