A British businessman was fined for decorating the city with flags
A resident of the UK, the owner of a high-rise company from Scarborough, Will Haylett, received a fine of almost 3 thousand pounds (about 313 thousand rubles) for decorating lampposts with dozens of national flags. This was reported by the Metro newspaper on February 27.
Haylett used his car tower to hang the flags of Great Britain and St. George on 64 lighting poles. According to Haylett, his goal was to "cheer people up."
However, the North Yorkshire authorities did not appreciate the initiative. The workers of the local council took down all the flags, after which the officials billed the businessman for the amount of £2,785. Each flag cost £36.27.
The Briton refused to pay the fine, calling the demand outrageous, the Newspaper said.Ru». As an alternative, he suggested making a donation to a charity that helps veterans, and the local council agreed to this option.
The Metro newspaper reported on January 22 that a British pensioner was fined £600 for a cardboard box that fell out of a dumpster. The pensioner claims that in October last year she dropped a frying pan box into a recycling container in Reading, but a few days later she received a letter from Kingdom accusing her of illegally dumping garbage and threatening criminal prosecution.
