Over the period from 2022 to 2025, the average casco payment for Chinese cars increased by 75%, which directly affects the price of policies for the end user. This was announced on February 27 in a press release from the VSK Insurance House.

The main reason is a significant increase in the cost of spare parts. A significant part of car owners are not ready to pay for a full hard hat at the new cost, said Elena Nabatchikova, Deputy General Director for Retail Insurance at the VSK Insurance House.

The prolongation of hard hats for Chinese cars is kept at about 25%, which is an abnormally low value for the market. For comparison, for European brands, this figure is about 60%

"When buying a new car, customers often apply for a full-coverage hard hat policy from a dealer. However, in the second year of ownership, due to the high cost of prolongation, about half of the customers refuse insurance," said Elena Nabatchikova.

As a result, there is a growing demand for programs with a franchise and limited coverage, she noted.

Alexander Abramov, Executive Director of Sberbank Insurance, said on January 27 that not every incident is recognized as an insured event. In car insurance (casco), payments are not required if the damage is due to natural wear and tear of the car — replacement of brake pads, shock absorbers, oil and other elements of scheduled maintenance.

Also, the use of a car for other purposes is not recognized as an insured event, for example, to participate in races or operate a taxi without an appropriate option, the expert noted.
