The Russian Embassy in Paris condemned the blocking of Russian media websites.

Blocking 35 Russian media sites that are under European Union (EU) sanctions will deprive the French of the right to choose their sources of information. This was announced on February 27 at the Russian Embassy in Paris.

"I sincerely feel sorry for ordinary French citizens, who have been effectively deprived of the right to make their own choices about what to read, what to watch, and which sources to trust. What is it: distrust of fellow citizens or doubt in their ability to figure out on their own where the truth is and where the lie is?", the diplomatic mission told RIA Novosti

The embassy noted that the blocking of media sites contradicts the principle of freedom of speech and is political in nature.

On February 26, the French media regulator Arcom demanded that Internet service providers block the websites of 35 Russian media outlets that are under EU sanctions. In addition, the media regulator demanded that four streaming platforms that provide access to Russian television and radio broadcasting services be removed from the search results.
