The next stage of production modernization has started at UAZ

As part of the modernization of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant's production site, a new pressing line has been installed at the enterprise. This was reported to Izvestia on February 27 by the company's press service.

According to the company, five new presses with efforts of 1.2-2 thousand tons will be used for stamping large body makers of Sollers pickups, as well as the future SUV of this brand.

"The new equipment will produce fenders, sidewalls, hoods, roofs, door panels and floor elements for these models. In the future, the capacity of the pressing line will be used for the production of body parts for UAZ family cars," the company said.

The stamping process is fully automated: the operator uses a remote control to control six industrial robots that load blanks into the production line and remove ready-made parts, the company said. Commissioning is currently underway, and the press shop is expected to be put into operation by early summer, UAZ said.
