In Russia, March 6 will not be a shortened day in 2026.
There is no provision for shortening the working day on the eve of International Women's Day, which is celebrated on March 8. This was announced on February 27 by Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.
"The situation is similar to February with the celebration of March 8, which this year falls on a Sunday. Thus, Friday, March 6, will remain a regular working day of standard duration," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The deputy explained that such regulation contributes to the stability of the production process. He also recalled that the holiday will last from March 7-9, which creates excellent conditions for family celebrations and honoring women. At the same time, Nilov called on heads of organizations who have the opportunity to pay attention to employees and encourage them to finish their workday early before the holiday.
