The driver of the SUV is awaiting trial for the death of a truck passenger in an accident in Primorye

In Primorsky Krai, a criminal investigation has been completed into the death of a passenger of a medium-duty truck into which an SUV crashed. This is reported by the Regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The accident occurred on the 612th km of the federal highway A-370 "Ussuri" in the Mikhailovsky district of the region. According to the investigation, a 36-year-old resident of Nakhodka, driving a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, drove into oncoming traffic in a place where it is prohibited, and crashed into a Mitsubishi Canter truck, which was turning around at that moment.

As a result of the collision, the passenger of the truck received various injuries, from which he died in hospital. The passenger of the SUV was also seriously injured in the accident.

The motorist is charged under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person and causing serious harm to human health." The case materials have been submitted to the court for consideration on the merits. According to the PrimaMedia news agency, the relatives of the deceased also filed a lawsuit in the amount of 2 million rubles for compensation for moral damage.

According to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the maximum sanction of this article provides for up to five years in prison.
